Government officials have blasted an idea put forward by the Ontario Lottery to give away twenty two Mercedes Benz B200’s during it’s April promotion. The license to win promotion will see twenty two of these German cars given away and government officials feel that to give away German cars when it’s own auto industry is struggling to survive is ‘wrong on all levels’

Deputy premier George Smitherman lambasted the lottery saying he would have though the OLG would be sensitive to the problems currently being faced in the provinces own auto industry.
The American and Canadian auto industry is in grave danger with the current economic crisis and it would seem this competition is thoughtless and ill advised, clearly government officials feel that the Ontario Lottery and Gaming commission could have better spent the cash on home grown products.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming commission run most of Canada’s biggest lotteries including the Lotto 6/49 and this decision could well backfire in the terms of sales and support for the lottery.
It’s not yet known whether the competition will go ahead to give away the twenty two Mercedes Benz Motor cars or whether the OLG will agree with the government and replace them but it does seem to be a bit of an embarrassment to the lottery and the country as a whole.

Men often talk about ‘getting lucky’ on St Valentine’s day but one lucky Georgia Lottery player got lucky in more ways than one last week when he won the lottery twice on St Valentine’s Day. It’s certainly a St Valentine’s day he won’t forget after winning $255,000 across two different Georgia Lotto scratch cards.

PLAY NOW

James McAllister from Acworth, Georgia bought a Georgia Lottery Millionaire Jumbo Bucks tickets last weekend from Racetrac in Acworth while taking his wife for a romantic Valentine’s day breakfast. Scratching it off in the car he was astounded to realise that he had indeed got lucky to the tune of $5,000.
Feeling St Valentines day may indeed be his lucky day he later bought another Georgia Millionaire Jumbo Bucks ticket at the Kellogg Creek Market in the town as he shopped for a St Valentine’s day card for his wife.
That ticket astoundingly was worth $250,000, beating 1 in a million odds!

The double win surprised Mr McAllister who truly believes fate allowed him to win that day, telling Georgia Lottery officials that he wouldn’t have won any other day.
Mr McAllister declined an interview but said in a news release that he had his wife to thank for his good fortune and he probably wouldn’t have won any other time. Simply winning because it was St Valentine’s Day.
It puts a whole new slant on the phrase getting lucky and I think he probably got luckier than most men this February 14th.

A homeless tramp was rummaging through bins in Canada last week for bottles to recycle for cash when he found bundles of lottery scratchcards all sealed in a white bin liner. The scratchcards worth around $2,000 were all the property of the Western Canada Lottery Corporation and were all unscratched with many still sealed in their plastic wrappers.

The homeless gent, Mr Gillespie was digging through dumpsters in the town last Monday but found the tickets instead and after finding them decided to do the right thing and hand the whole lot, unscratched back to the Western Canada Lotto Corporation.
The corporation are left scratching their heads, not their cards now as to how they found their way into the dumpster as it seems the cards were unaccounted for and not even reported missing or stolen, there is no clue to where they came from and the Western Canada Lottery corporation is completely stumped.
Although the man considered keeping the tickets, he decided to do the right thing, caught the bus and took the whole lot down to the local Western Canada Lottery corporation offices. He wasn’t offered a reward for the tickets, although he didn’t ask for one either.
The commission are not investigating how the tickets could have found ther way into the dumpster and there will now be a full report into why the tickets had not been reported stolen.

Are you a fan of National Lottery scratch cards? A Lotto syndicate from Barnsley in South Yorkshire rarely buys them but they were certainly glad they splashed out on this one after they scooped a win of a staggering £75,000.

PLAY NOW

The syndicate made up of members from a supermarket head office is made up of twenty-five players, they play the lottery throughout the year and then in December share out their accumulated small wins.
This time there was some cash left over so they decided to splash out on a few National Lottery scratch cards. The Scrabble scratch cards from the National Lottery are £2 each and having twenty-five squares on each card were perfect for the syndicate, allowing them to scratch off one square each.

Not all of the cards were lucky but one card was a winner and after much disbelief despite each member checking the card carefully they realised they were £75,000 winners. It took confirmation from Lottery officials at Camelot before the news finally sunk in and now the syndicate are deciding how to spend their cash and are planning an event out together to celebrate as a syndicate.

It’s a huge win, and although between twenty five of them won’t make a life changing difference it will make all their lives easier and the cash should certainly come in handy!

So Christmas rushed passed and you suddenly remembered that you had forgotten to purchase your National Lottery ticket for the draw on 27th December 2009, you rush to the newsagents to be told the National Lottery machines are not working?
Hang on, something wrong there, how can the National Lottery machines not be working, oh well it’s almost time for the draw let’s not dwell on it, so you rush home, create an account and attempt to buy your tickets online.

PLAY NOW

That’s not working either? How can this be?
Sounds like a silly dream doesn’t it? Well it wasn’t, it was a reality for players trying to purchase National Lottery tickets for the draw held on 27th December 2009 when a lottery glitch meant that the purchasing of national Lottery tickets was impossible across the UK for most of the day, this in turn forced people to try and purchase online creating unprecedented traffic for the National Lottery website meaning that too crashed under the weight of the demand of players trying frantically to purchase tickets.

There were lots of disappointed Lotto players throughout the day as lottery terminals never recovered for many people to purchase tickets and the event was fairly unprecedented in the history of the lottery. The winner too was affected with the lottery glitch knocking approximately £800,000 off the National Lottery jackpot.

Pink Balls I hear you say? But all the National Lottery balls are different colours aren’t they? Well not in one draw that took place in October 2008 for it was the first time in the history of the lottery that all the balls drawn were the same colour.

PLAY NOW

The odds of it happening are almost as great as winning the lottery itself and players watched on in amazement as one pink ball after another came shooting out of the Lottery machine. One pink ball then a second and a third, then a fourth, fifth and sixth pink ball all in one lottery draw from the same machine.
The UK National Lotto has been running since 1994 and with two draws every week that’s a lot of lottery balls, yet never in the history of the game have all the balls been the same colour.

The pink lottery balls only represent numbers in their 20’s and the six pink balls drawn on the night were 23-21-27-28-20-24. The first time this has ever happened in the history of the UK National Lottery. It’s unlikely to happen for a long while again and unsurprisingly the Lottery jackpot for that night rolled over to the next draw.

So if you were watching the draw on 11th October 2008, you weren’t hallucinating, the balls really were all pink. All six of them!

We all play the National Lottery in the hope of a big win, but what exactly are our chances of hitting that jackpot and celebrating an extraordinary win?

PLAY NOW

Well they say you have more chance of being struck by lightning and maybe they’re right. The odds of matching all six winning numbers on the UK National Lottery are a staggering one in 14 million. You can of course increase these chances just a little, if you buy two tickets then you increase your chance to two in 14 million. Save up your cash and buy lots of tickets for rollover jackpots and increase your chances even further.

Matching five numbers and the bonus ball can still offer a very nice windfall but that odds of hitting that are still one in 2 million so it’s not surprising that the pot is a tidy sum.

Matching five main numbers without the bonus ball and the odds start to shrink a little at 1 in 50,000.

Of course the smaller the prize the better the odds of hitting it, but in case you’re losing overall hope for a lotto win maybe you’d like to know that the odds of getting any prize is an obtainable 54 to one which isn’t so bad after all.

Saying all that, someone has to win and it may as well be you as anyone else. Good luck!
